Players born from May 1, 1999 to April 30, 2001 should register from 2:15-2:30 with tryouts starting promptly at 3:00.

Players born from May 1, 1997 to April 30, 1999 should register from 4:15-4:30 with tryouts starting promptly at 5:00.

Only players who participated in one of the Pembroke Youth Baseball divisions in the spring 2010 season are eligible for the tryouts. Players should come dressed to play baseball and must bring a check for $50 deposit. The deposit will be applied towards the summer fees ($150 Cal Ripken teams or $125 South River teams) and will be refunded for any player who is not assigned to a team. Players who are selected for a team but choose not to play will forfeit the $50 deposit.

There is no makeup scheduled for these tryouts. All interested, eligible players should attend one of these sessions.

Article 8 authorizes the town to borrow $85,000 to construct a finished parking area at the Mattakeesett Street Municipal Ballfields on Mattakeesett Street. At the fall special Town Meeting, voters authorized the town to borrow up to $800,000 to complete the entire baseball field complex if Pembroke was awarded a $500,000 state grant. The town learned early this year that it had not received the grant, so the project was again tabled.

Proponents of this article, including Recreation Commission chairman Greg Hanley and Town Administrator Ed Thorne, said the project would help preserve the ball fields and protect investments made by the town and by local business people, Pembroke Youth Baseball and other volunteers. Presently, lack of drainage and paving causes considerable runoff onto the fields and makes it difficult for vehicles to maneuver through the dirt lot. This article was submitted by the town administrator. Selectmen support this article. Advisory recommends indefinite postponement.
