In order to accommodate as many players as possible with school activity conflicts, the schedule for the Majors playoffs has been revised to play night games on Friday (6/12) and Saturday (6/13). This also impacts the AAA schedule for night games on those two nights which are being switched to 5:30 starts and may change fields.

Coaches should contact players as soon as possible with the updated details. The Majors playoff summary has been updated on the Majors Standings page.

All games for Friday June 5 are postponed due to the weather.

Tryouts will be held on Saturday June 6 at the Mattakeesett fields for the 8 year old summer all star team. Pembroke residents who are playing on a PYB spring town league team are invited to try out for the summer team. Unlike the older age groups, there is typically only one eight year old team due to limited slots for teams in the local league. All play will be player-pitch.

There is an April 30 cutoff for birth dates. For example, a player can be no older than 8 on April 30 to qualify for the 8 year old team.

Players are evaluated at the tryouts in several areas including hitting and fielding so they should come dressed appropriately.

Registration starts at 9:30AM and the evaluations begin at 10:00AM.

The length of the evaluation sessions will depend on the number of players attending.

We encourage participation at all skill levels but please remember that this is a significant commitment typically from mid-June to early August.

Pembroke Youth Baseball would like to congratulate Judy Whealan (Opening Day) and The Heeran Family (Mother’s Day) for being the first winners in our Field of Dreams Raffle. Each winner will receive $250. Another winner of $250 will be selected on Father’s Day. All tickets purchased prior to Father’s Day are eligible for the final drawing. Tickets are $5 each and can be obtained from any division director or coach.

The rain continues. All games for Wednesday April 22 have been postponed. Rescheduled games will be announced and posted as soon as possible.

All games scheduled for April 21 are postponed due to the heavy rains. The fields are not playable. Any games being rescheduled will be added to the calendars as quickly as possible.

The registration meeting for umpires 13+ years old has been changed to a shorter, one hour meeting from 10AM-11AM on Saturday April 11. All interested teenagers should attend this important meeting at the Community Center.

The regular season games start next week so umpires are needed immediately. If you love baseball, don’t miss this opportunity to make a few extra $$.

Pembroke Youth Baseball and Pembroke Babe Ruth are looking for responsible kids 13+ years old who love baseball and would like to earn a little extra cash umpiring in town baseball.

Anyone interested should attend the meeting on April 11, 2009 at the Pembroke Community Center from 10:00AM – 11:00AM.
