“Kids Helping Kids”
Dear League Officials:
Your organization has been invited to participate in the 14th Annual Pembroke Summer Invitational Tournaments. As an organization, we have decided to partner with a charity and promote the concept of kids helping kids. For the fifth year in a row, portions of all proceeds will be donated to Santa’s Helpers of Pembroke MA. Because of the generosity of participating teams, we have been able to donate over $9,000 in cash and toys to Santa’s Helpers. More information on the charity and how you can participate are listed further in this letter.

Santa’s Helpers collects funds and gifts for children/families that are in need of assistance during the holiday season. Santa’s Helpers was started over 20 years ago by two childhood friends looking to make a difference in the lives of children. Those two friends have since gotten married and started families of their own. While starting a family took time away from Santa’s Helpers, the two still found time to coordinate benefits for the victims of Hurricane Katrina and the tsunami in Indonesia. About 7 years ago, Mike and his wife Kellene, decided it was time to revive Santa’s Helpers and focus on ensuring that children have gifts for the holidays. Over the last 7 years, Santa’s Helpers has raised over $60,000 and provided assistance for over 200 families in Pembroke, Quincy, Braintree and Weymouth. With the help of local school districts, Santa’s Helpers has helped to organize toy drives, provided assistance to local food banks and provided home heating assistance to those in need. 100% of the money raised benefits families in need.
Kellene and Mike have been a part of Pembroke Youth Baseball for a number of years. They have two boys in the program and have volunteered countless hours to promote and support baseball in the area. As a program, we wanted to show as much support for their organization as they have shown for ours. That is why Pembroke Youth Baseball is proud to donate a portion of all proceeds from the Pembroke Tournaments to Santa’s Helpers.
If you are interested in assisting us with this donation, we ask that each team bring one unwrapped gift to the tournament, age appropriate for the age your team represents. You are welcome to bring more than one gift, but if every team participating in our tournaments brought just one gift, we would be able to help make some children’s holidays a little brighter. We will place a box in the area of the snack bar for all contributions.
On behalf of Pembroke Youth Baseball and Santa’s Helpers, thank you for your participation.
